I Read 120 Books in 2023. These Were My 10 Favorite Nonfiction Titles: Part 1

I already shared both Part 1 and Part 2 of my 10 favorite fiction reads of 2023. So, I’ll now turn my attention to nonfiction. Once again, I’ve divided my 10 favorites into two lists, beginning with the first five below. A few reminders before I unveil them:

  • Full-length reviews of all 120 books are available on my goodreads.com page.
  • Not all of these books were published in 2023 — I just happened to read (or reread) them last year.
  • As was the case with my fiction lists, the following five titles are not ranked in any way. They simply are listed in chronological order, beginning with the most recent read to the year’s earliest read.

1. The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga

I decided to get this book after repeatedly seeing it come up in my Medium news feed as one of the best self-help books ever written. And after reading it, I’d have to agree. In fact, I think it’s one of those rare nonfiction works that every single person should read.
