I Read 121 Books in 2022 — These Were My Favorites.

Last year, I published two lists of my favorite 2021 reads: fiction and nonfiction. In 2022 I read a lot more fiction than nonfiction; therefore, I’m combining 2022’s best reads lists.

Please note that not all of these books were published in 2022 — I just happened to read them during that year. Also, the following titles are not ranked in any way. They simply are listed in chronological order, beginning with the year’s latest read to the year’s earliest read. Finally, I have my own goodreads.com page, where I review all the books I read. 1. Manual on the Art of Living by Epictetus

I have long had Epictetus’ “Manual on the Art of Living” on my “to read” list. And when I saw this bilingual edition for sale in the bookshop at the Delphi ruins on our fall trip to Greece, I finally purchased a copy and read it.

And I’m glad I did.

Similar to Marcus Aurelius’ “Meditations” in that the book is a collection of short aphorisms that were collected for posterity by Epictetus’ student Arrian, it’s a quick — but powerful — read. One that I will reread over and over again.
