When it comes to hobbies, I have two passions: reading and running.

As I’ve aged, it’s only natural that I’ve started focusing more on the former than the latter. And that’s why I felt comfortable setting an aggressive reading goal of 120 books for 2021. Ultimately, I finished 140 during the calendar year that ended last Friday.

I have my own goodreads.com page, where I review the books I read. But I don’t expect folks to wade through all 140 reviews from this year, which is why I’m sharing what I thought were the 5 best nonfiction titles I read in 2021 (plus two honorable mentions). Please note that not all of these books were published in 2021 — I just happened to read (or in one case, reread) them during that year. Also, the following titles are not ranked in any way. They simply are listed in chronological order, beginning with the most recent read to the year’s earliest read.
